izi Bonding guide for natural teeth

1. Clean the tooth with pumice, sandblaster or prophy jet. Clean izi with 70% Alcohol.

2. Etch an area on the tooth larger than the izi. Rinse and dry as per bonding material instructions.

3. Apply Bonding material to the enamel and light cure for ±10 seconds.

4. Apply necessary amount of dual cure cement or flowable composite on prepared tooth.

5. Using a Waxpicker, place the izi into the cement or composite. Smooth out excess material by gradually thinning it out over ±1.5mm. Keep in mind that the mechanical lock over the edge of the izi is very important.

6. Make sure the izi is placed correctly. Then lightly cure from all angles for 20 sec. per angle. Polish any sharp edges with rubber polisher.

NOTE: It sometimes helps to press the izi onto the tooth before you start so that the izi can shape to the anatomy of the tooth itself.

Notes on creating important mechanical lock for successful fitting of izi Dental Jewellery.

1) Create mechanical lock on izi by working composite or cement over the edge of the izi before smoothing material over rest of tooth. (Think of setting a diamond in a ring.) Do this all around izi before curing of material. Note that this is why translucent cement is recommended.
Note material coming over edge of izi.

2) Note placement of izi Facing L on the tooth. This will leave enough space for cement or composite to bond to enamel and create mechanical lock. It helps to shape izi before placement into cement. Bend over pen or round instrument to get all points to touch tooth structure. This will help with smoothing-out process of material and final fit. Note that points 1,2,and 3 are touching enamel.

3) Note area covered by cement or composite. Material on insical edge will protect izi and help to prevent it from being bitten out.

System 1 : Clear Self Cure Acrylic Material

1. Roughen surface of tooth using sandpaper or diamond bur.
2. Form izi to fit contours of specific tooth.
3. Using cyano acrylate adhesive, glue izi in place.
4. High Shine izi if necessary and clean properly before proceeding with step 5.
5. Completely cover izi and tooth with clear acrylic.
6. Cure acrylic as per manufactures instructions. (Warm water and pressure pot?)
7. Finish denture and polish.

Note: When placing izi Facings remember to leave +- 1mm of material around izi for clear acrylic to bond with denture. Cover izi with enough material so that it is still covered and protected after polishing. Use wax on toothpick or sharp instrument to lift and place izi.

System 2 : izi Resin and Activator

1. Roughen surface of tooth using sandpaper or diamond bur.
2. Form izi to fit contours of specific tooth.
3. Glue izi in place using izi Resin. (High Shine and clean if necessary)
4. Smooth out drop of resin over izi and tooth.( not to thick or resin will "boil" when cured with activator)
5. Spray thin mist of izi Activator over resin to cure. Spray from +- 30cm. Wait 10 sec and spray again if needed.
6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until izi is covered sufficiently to be polished.
7. Finish denture and polish.

Note: If porosity present during curing process, trim out bubbles with bur and continue from step 4. Use wax on toothpick or sharp instrument to lift and place izi.
